What do we do?
We are the association ProChildEdu e.V., ProChildEdu stands for 'Progress in Children's Education'.
We aim to make education more accessible for children and young people by providing financial support for projects. In doing so, we rely on existing contacts with local educators who carry out projects from idea to implementation.
We are aware of our responsibility and the existing neo-colonial structures and, therefore, attach great importance to dealing sensitively with our privileges. To this end, we are constantly educating ourselves as an association.
To further educate the association on structural racism, "critical whiteness," and "white privilege, " we use part of the membership fees to raise awareness among association members through workshops. The other part of the membership fees, together with 100% of the donations, flows directly into the realization of the project.

What is our contribution?
Our current project is in India together with Damini e.V. Here, we are in contact with a young woman who is training to become an educator. We are still looking for donations so that she can continue to receive a salary during her training.

What is our Motivation?
Many of us seem to take access to education for granted. But this is far from the case. There are hundreds of millions of children worldwide who do not go to school and, even when they do, often achieve only inadequate learning skills. The situation is particularly precarious in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. These two areas of the world alone have almost 100 million children who cannot attend school or only attend sporadically. This corresponds to one in nine out of ten children in sub-Saharan Africa and still 58% of children in South Asia.
In addition, 13% of children and young people worldwide are illiterate, with a clear gender gap of 17% for girls and 10% for boys.
This dramatic situation requires immediate action by people who are in a position to change the situation. We, ProChildEdu e.V., are firmly convinced that an improvement in this situation can not only increase the individual quality of life but also improve many prevailing conflicts in the long term.

The 2030 Agenda, with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, was created to help tackle the current problems of our time. ProChildEdu prioritizes, as seen above, "4. quality education", "5. gender equality", "8. decent work and economic growth" and "10. reduced inequalities". We see it as our task to contribute to providing all children with a good education and are actively committed to providing help on the ground.
Of course, we also see the 13 other goals as very important and crucial for a better future for all people.
